Rally Update February 2025
Hi all,
The 2025 Austin Healey National Rally is nearly upon us. The planning committee are extremely busy finalizing arrangements. The 1st February was the final date for registrations and payment and we are thrilled to be expecting over sixty participants to attend the event. We look forward to meeting up with you all in Matamata.
The Rally officially begins on the 13th March with our registration event at 4pm. This will be held at the Matamata Club located at 13 Rawhiti Avenue, Matamata, 3400. For those staying at one of the three suggested motels, Broadway, Matamata Central and Maple Lodge, you will find the club is very close to your accommodation.
Upon arrival at registration, the planning committee will be waiting to welcome you. Everyone will be asked to sign a terms and conditions, disclaimer and indemnity form. We will then issue you with your welcome packs. A schedule of events will be included in the pack. This Thursday evening event will be a fairly casual meet and greet. We have arranged food platters. It is then individual choice whether you choose to buy an evening meal at the club, or have a wander round to one of the other
local bars or restaurants. We have ensured vegetarian options within our menus for the Friday and Saturday evening meals. However, if you have any other dietary requirements we should be aware of, please contact myself, (Cheryl Evans evansfarmnz@gmail.com or 021 146 4781) as soon as possible.
Drinks at the Matamata Club will be at club prices for everyone. There is NOT an option to BYO. If you are one of the club members who has advised me they will be returning a cup or trophy, please don’t forget to bring it along to the rally with you. Please don’t forget that Saturday evening (15 th March) is our themed dinner. We all share a love of our beautiful and iconic British sports cars. In this regard, our selected theme for the 2025 rally is simply ‘British’. Hopefully this will provide everyone with plenty of scope to dress up (or dress down). There will be prizes for those that have really used their imaginations!
Anyone planning to visit Hobbiton whilst in the area, either before or after the rally, please don’t forget to book yourselves tickets in advance. It is an extremely popular tourist attraction. Again I apologise that we were not able to include it in the rally but we could not work it into our budget. For those interested, the cost for the movie set walking tour is about $120 per person (age 18-99!). It is a relatively gentle walk. (some minor hills included). It takes about two and a half hours. You have my contact details. Please feel free to get in touch with any queries. Looking forward to seeing you very soon.

Rally Update September 2024
Hi all,
For those joining us from the South Island, I hope everyone received the email with ferry booking details. If not, please see the information below for the contact details for the agent. Please quote the Austin Healey Car Club when booking.

The rally planning continues to go very well. We are excited for what is promising to be, a very well attended event! We have fully booked three motels and I have still been assisting people to find Airb&b’s in the area. On behalf of the planning committee, thank you so much for this wonderful response. We are thrilled!
Please can I just mention, there have been a few people paying registration fees into the wrong account. Please note the RALLY ACCOUNT NUMBER is 03-0502-0923614-005. Mark Donaldson informs me that a few people have paid into the account ending with 02. This is not a disaster as Mark will transfer the payments to the correct account, so don’t panic if you have made this mistake. But I don’t have access to this account, so please to save our treasurer unnecessary work, check you have the right account number. Thank you.
Looking forward to seeing you all next March!
